Pune: Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar) chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday asserted that the central government would not have encountered problems related to the NEET examination if it had effectively employed artificial intelligence (AI) for its conduct.
Pawar Emphasizes AI's Transformative Role
Speaking after inaugurating the 'technology on wheels' initiative by Vidya Pratishthan, which aims to introduce students to modern technology, Pawar highlighted the significance of AI across various sectors. 'Be it education, health or agriculture, AI is bringing tremendous transformation in every sector,' he remarked.
NEET Paper Leak and Government Response
Commenting on the NEET paper leak, Pawar stated, 'Had the AI been used effectively by the government, it would not have faced any issues.' The National Testing Agency (NTA) cancelled the NEET-UG examination held on May 3 for undergraduate medical admissions after discovering the question paper leak. The Centre has scheduled a re-examination for June 21, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made several arrests in connection with the case.
Agitation and Political Reactions
The satirical platform 'Cockroach Janta Party', founded by Abhijeet Dipke from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, launched a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar on Saturday, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the NEET paper leak and irregularities in CBSE examinations.
NCP (SP) working president Supriya Sule expressed support for the protesters' demand, criticizing the government's inaction. 'BJP speaks about constitutional morality while targeting opposition members, but why can it not show the same morality and ask its minister to resign? It is quite unfortunate that the Centre is doing nothing despite growing public anger,' Sule told reporters in Pune.
