The Department of Electrical Engineering at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Hamirpur, organized the second International Conference on Power and Intelligent Control Systems in hybrid mode on Friday. The event brought together researchers, academicians, industry professionals, and students to discuss recent advancements in power engineering, control and automation, and artificial intelligence.
Conference Highlights and Keynote Speakers
HM Suryawanshi, Director of NIT-Hamirpur, stated that the conference served as a platform for exchanging ideas on cutting-edge technologies. Eminent speakers included Prof Patrick Wheeler from the University of Nottingham, UK; Prof NP Padhy, Director of MNIT, Jaipur; Prof Asha Rani and Prof Vijander Singh from NSUT, New Delhi. Keynote talks were delivered by Prof Sukumar Mishra, Director of IIT Dhanbad, and Prof Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director of NIT Warangal. Prof Ujjwal Kumar Kalla from NIT Delhi gave an invited talk.
Research Papers and Technical Sessions
OP Rahi, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering, along with Bharat Bhusan Sharma, Ram Niwash Mahia, Katam Nishanth, and Pankaj K. Mishra, convened the conference. Rahi revealed that the conference received approximately 590 research papers from various parts of India and abroad. After peer review and registration, 95 papers were presented during technical sessions. These sessions covered themes such as power systems, power electronics, renewable energy, control systems, robotics, intelligent control, machine learning, AI in electrical engineering, signal processing, and other emerging areas.
Impact on Research and Collaboration
Prof Suryawanshi emphasized that the conference is expected to strengthen research activities and academic collaborations in electrical engineering and allied disciplines. He added that NIT-Hamirpur is continuously working on upgrading research and development programs and improving campus facilities.
