In a significant development for the coastal tech community, Mangaluru has secured a prestigious position in India's artificial intelligence landscape. Hackerspace Mangaluru's upcoming event, HMNOV25, has received official accreditation as a pre-summit event for the government's flagship India – AI Impact Summit 2026.
National Recognition for Local Innovation
The accreditation was announced by Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta, who played a pivotal role in facilitating this national-level recognition for the local technology initiative. Through his coordination with the IndiaAI Mission, Capt Chowta helped bridge the gap between grassroots innovation and national policy frameworks.
Capt Chowta expressed his appreciation for S Krishnan, secretary of the ministry of electronics and information technology (MeitY), whose support proved crucial in securing this prestigious accreditation for the coastal city. This endorsement represents a major milestone for Mangaluru's growing technology ecosystem.
Mangaluru Joins Elite AI Network
The India – AI Impact Summit 2026 is scheduled to take place in New Delhi on February 18, 2026, and will convene leading global voices, researchers, and innovators in artificial intelligence. With HMNOV25 now integrated into its official pre-summit ecosystem, Mangaluru joins an exclusive network of cities contributing to India's AI-focused engagements on the global stage.
'I am pleased to see an initiative from Mangaluru's youth earn such recognition,' stated Capt Chowta, while congratulating the Hackerspace Mangaluru team. 'This represents a wonderful milestone for our region's technological aspirations.'
Building a Tech Hub on the Coast
In his social media statement, Capt Chowta emphasized the pride in seeing #HMNOV25 recognized as a pre-summit event for the global platform that will bring together leading innovators and policymakers in AI next year. He noted that having one of its pre-events happening in Mangaluru represents a matter of significant regional pride.
'Glad we could help bring this recognition to our region,' he added. 'Delighted that we could do our bit too, and I hope this inspires many more young minds from our coast to step forward and build the future.'
The MP further revealed plans to host another similar event in Mangaluru soon, as part of ongoing efforts to establish the region as a hub for ideas, innovation, and the technology vision of tomorrow.
Hackerspace Mangaluru has acknowledged Capt Chowta's continued support and reaffirmed their commitment to nurturing a vibrant community of AI learners, builders, and enthusiasts in the coastal region. This recognition positions Mangaluru as an emerging contributor to India's rapidly evolving artificial intelligence ecosystem.
