Entrepreneur and former Facebook researcher Alex LeBrun has joined the founding team as Chief Executive Officer. LeBrun brings extensive experience in AI product development, having previously co-founded healthcare startup Nabla, which created an agentic AI assistant for clinicians.

In a LinkedIn post, LeBrun expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, stating: "I am thrilled to announce that I am joining Yann LeCun and an exceptional founding team to lead AMI - Advanced Machine Intelligence as CEO. We have secured a $1.03 billion USD seed round to fuel our mission to build intelligent systems capable of truly understanding the real world—a long-term scientific endeavor."

The funding round was co-led by prominent venture capital firms including Cathay Innovation, Greycroft, Hiro Capital, HV Capital, and Bezos Expeditions, alongside other investors. Yann LeCun, who departed Meta after twelve years leading its AI research division, founded AMI Labs with a specific focus on developing world models—advanced AI systems designed to better understand and reflect how the real world operates.
