The National Testing Agency (NTA) Director General Abhishek Singh announced on Saturday that the Indian Air Force (IAF) will be engaged to transport question papers for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for the first time. The national test is scheduled to be held on June 21.
Enhanced Security Measures
Speaking virtually at a meeting chaired by Telangana Chief Secretary K Ramakrishna Rao regarding NEET arrangements, Singh emphasized the implementation of enhanced security protocols for the examination. According to a state government release, Singh stated that the engagement of the IAF reflects the importance being accorded to maintaining the integrity and security of the examination process.
Arrangements in Telangana
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed officials to ensure foolproof arrangements for the medical exam. He instructed district authorities to work in close coordination with all concerned departments to provide a hassle-free environment for candidates on the examination day.
State Principal Secretary (Health) Christina Z Chongthu informed that approximately 73,000 students are expected to appear for NEET across 208 examination centres in 24 cities in Telangana. She added that necessary arrangements related to infrastructure, transportation, security, power supply, drinking water, and other essential facilities are being made to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination.
Security and Vigilance
State Director General (Law and Order) Mahesh Bhagwat stressed the need for close coordination between the police department and district administration. He directed police officials to ensure comprehensive security arrangements at all examination centres and maintain constant vigil. Bhagwat also cautioned officials against rumour mongering and misinformation, advising them to actively monitor and utilize social media platforms to promptly address any false information that may affect the conduct of the examination.
