Formula E is set to debut as an Official Partner at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, one of motorsport's most iconic events. Aligned with this year's theme, 'The Rivals - Epic Racing Duels', the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will present a historic display featuring every generation of Formula E car, from GEN1 to the all-new GEN4, highlighting the rapid evolution of electric racing over the past decade.
All Four Generations on Display
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, all four generations of Formula E cars will take to the hill climb simultaneously, offering a live visual timeline of the championship's technological ascent. Motorsport enthusiasts can explore the cars up close at a dedicated showcase in the Ballroom Paddock throughout the weekend. The GEN4, set to debut next season, will be the centerpiece alongside earlier generations on static display.
Event Details
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a four-day celebration spanning the past, present, and future of motorsport. This year, it runs from Thursday, July 9 to Sunday, July 12 at the 12,000-acre Goodwood Estate in West Sussex, where it is held annually.
Introducing the GEN4
The GEN4 is slated for its racing debut in the 2026/27 season. It achieves speeds exceeding 335 kph and accelerates from 0-200 kph in 4.4 seconds, with a 71 percent increase in power in Attack Mode compared to its predecessor. The car also features power steering and an ergonomic cockpit redesign, enhancing inclusivity at the elite level.
Driver Reactions
Andretti driver Jake Dennis praised the GEN4, stating, 'I think that’s what the public have been calling for - quicker, faster cars - and honestly, that’s exactly what the GEN4 is. It’s an absolute beast: super quick, looks incredible, and I think it’s going to be a real eye-opener for everyone.'
Envision Racing's Sebastien Buemi echoed the sentiment, calling it a beast. 'It feels like a beast. I’d say it’s modern, it looks fast, you know? Big tyres, good aero and then when you see it drive or you drive it yourself, it’s pretty impressive. I think the biggest change is mainly aerodynamic. Obviously a lot more downforce, tyres are bigger and the car is more powerful. We’ll have four-wheel drive all the time, but a lot more power, so it’s like a very strong, improved GEN3 Evo,' he said.
