Bharat1.AI Announces Groundbreaking Humanity-First AI City Project in Bengaluru

In a significant development for India's technology landscape, Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence infrastructure company Bharat1.AI has unveiled ambitious plans to establish a "Humanity-First AI City" in Bengaluru. This city-scale research and infrastructure initiative aims to advance foundational Agentic and Physical AI systems within real-world environments, marking a pivotal step in India's AI evolution.

Phase One: The B1 AI Superpark

The first phase of this visionary project will materialize through the B1 AI Superpark—a sprawling 500,000 square foot AI research and innovation campus situated in Sarjapura, Bengaluru. Designed specifically for seamless AI model training, fine-tuning, and inference operations, this facility will offer plug-and-play workspace accommodations for over 10,000 AI researchers and innovators. The company anticipates welcoming professionals from AI startups, universities, research laboratories, and both global and Indian corporations by the conclusion of this calendar year.

Umakant Soni, co-founder and CEO of Bharat1.AI, emphasized the critical timing of this initiative: "We stand at an inflection point within the AI revolution. Intelligence is transitioning from controlled laboratory settings into the very fabric of our society. Scaling AI systems without rigorously validating them within complex, real-world environments represents a risk we simply cannot afford. The B1 AI Superpark constitutes the inaugural step toward establishing a comprehensive city-scale validation framework where agentic and physical AI can evolve responsibly, not merely powerfully."

Strategic Research Partnerships

The Superpark will serve as a collaborative nexus for leading Indian academic and research institutions. Early foundational research partners include:

  • The Airawat Research Foundation from IIT Kanpur
  • SPARC (Safety, Privacy & AI Research Centre) at IISc
  • Wadhwani School of AI & Intelligent Systems at IIT Kanpur
  • BITS Pilani
  • iSPIRT Foundation
  • IIT Ropar

Researchers, engineers, and startup teams from these partner organizations will collaborate intensively on developing measurable and verifiable intelligence systems. Their work will span critical domains including robotics, autonomous infrastructure, next-generation mobility solutions, and advanced human-machine interaction technologies.

Technical Infrastructure and Initial Focus

Purpose-built to support high-density computational workloads and sophisticated simulations, the campus will feature exceptional connectivity capabilities. It will offer up to 400Gbps links to major AI cloud platforms with sub-millisecond latency, effectively eliminating data bottlenecks and enabling large-scale, uninterrupted experimentation.

The initial phase will concentrate on several key objectives:

  1. Developing and stress-testing universal basic intelligence frameworks within controlled, real-world conditions.
  2. Constructing open city-scale world models utilizing structured, high-quality multimodal data streams.
  3. Creating robust validation layers for agentic and physical AI systems prior to their widespread deployment.
  4. Exploring methods to fundamentally anchor Agentic systems with digitized human identity frameworks such as Aadhaar.

Long-Term Vision and Industry Endorsement

Bharat1.AI has outlined an expansive roadmap extending beyond the Superpark. Over the subsequent 36 months, the initiative will evolve into a broader AI City testbed, enabling both Indian and international organizations to test and deploy AI systems within dynamic, urban-scale environments.

Prashanth Prakash, founding partner at Accel, endorsed the project's strategic importance: "India, and particularly Bengaluru, has long been recognized as a deep technology talent hub and startup ecosystem with strong connections to global innovation networks. This initiative signals something more profound—a demonstrated willingness to build the cognitive infrastructure necessary for scaling AI impact universally."

Prakash further elaborated that city-scale validation environments represent the frontier where foundational breakthroughs with world models will occur. "By synergizing research depth, innovation talent, and real-world data, Bharat1.AI is positioning India not merely as a participant in the AI revolution, but as the primary venue where AI for the global south can be responsibly architected and implemented," he added.

Leadership and Expertise

Bharat1.AI is co-founded by Umakant Soni, Subhashis Banerjee, and Sireesh Kupendra. This leadership team brings together a formidable combination of expertise across AI research, venture capital investment, and large-scale infrastructure development, positioning the company uniquely to execute this ambitious urban AI project.
