ADC Therapy Emerging as Effective Targeted Cancer Treatment: KGMU Doctors
ADC Therapy: New Hope for Cancer Patients, Say KGMU Doctors

Lucknow: Antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) therapy is emerging as an effective targeted treatment for cancers affecting multiple organs, doctors at King George's Medical University (KGMU) said during a workshop organized by the Georgian Alumni Association on Saturday.

What is ADC Therapy?

Prof Sudhir Singh, organizing secretary and faculty member of the radiotherapy department, explained that ADC therapy combines a cancer-targeting antibody with an anti-cancer drug. This combination delivers medication directly to cancer cells, improving precision and reducing damage to healthy cells. He noted that the therapy is showing promising results in breast, lung, and lymphoma cancers.

Role of Biomarkers in Cancer Detection

Gynaecologic oncologist Dr Zoya Siddiqui highlighted that biomarkers—biological indicators in the blood—can help detect lung cancer, identify its type, and guide treatment decisions. This approach enables personalized therapy for patients.
