Trichy: The Trichy city police have announced a public auction of nine condemned and scrap vehicles, including jeeps, vans, and heavy vehicles, as part of their regular disposal process. The auction will take place on June 15 at the city armed reserve police campus.
Details of the Vehicles
According to a press release, the fleet includes seven vehicles that were prematurely condemned after service in the police department and two that were retired under normal condemnation procedures. The vehicles up for auction are a Tata Sumo, MM540 Jeep, Swaraj Mazda, Eicher Vajra, Tata Varun, Tempo Traveller mortuary van, and other police utility vehicles. These vehicles are no longer fit for operational use and have been declared scrap.
Inspection and Auction Process
Interested members of the public can inspect the vehicles at the city armed reserve police campus from June 11 to June 15, between 10 am and 5 pm. This allows potential bidders to assess the condition of the vehicles before placing their bids.
On the day of the auction, June 15, bidders must register between 8 am and 10 am by producing their Aadhaar card and paying a refundable caution deposit of Rs 5,000. The deposit ensures that bidders are serious and will be refunded to unsuccessful bidders after the auction.
Payment and Possession
Successful bidders can take possession of the vehicles after remitting the full bid amount along with applicable Goods and Services Tax (GST). The police department has clarified that all transactions must be completed on the same day, and the vehicles will be handed over after all formalities are fulfilled.
This auction presents an opportunity for individuals or businesses to acquire vehicles at a low cost, though they are sold as scrap and may require significant repairs or recycling. The police urge all interested parties to adhere to the schedule and guidelines to ensure a smooth process.
