Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) has achieved a significant milestone in the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) for agricultural and allied universities in 2026. The institution climbed from the 37th position two years ago to the 19th spot this year, marking a substantial improvement.
Vice-Chancellor Expresses Pride
“It is a matter of pride for us. We have been correcting several systems in place, putting up better practices, and making things easier for students,” said Prof. Aldas Janaiah, Vice-Chancellor of PJTAU. The university’s efforts in streamlining operations and enhancing student experiences have contributed to this achievement.
Agriculture 4.0 Perspective Plan
On its foundation day, PJTAU unveiled an ambitious “Agriculture 4.0” perspective plan aimed at transforming farming through artificial intelligence, robotics, and drone technology. The blueprint focuses on establishing a global Centre of Excellence, integrating advanced digital technology into the curriculum, and boosting research into climate-resilient crops.
Social Inclusion and Field Outreach
The university is also enhancing social inclusion by offering specialised seats for children of landless labourers. Additionally, it is bridging the lab-to-land gap through extended, direct field outreach in rural areas, ensuring that research benefits reach the grassroots level.
These initiatives underscore PJTAU's commitment to modernising agricultural education and research while addressing societal needs.
