The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a directive requiring all medical colleges in India to submit their annual disclosure reports for the academic year 2026-27 by May 30. This report is mandatory for institutions seeking permission to establish new medical colleges as well as for the renewal of approval for existing MBBS programs.
NEET and Approval Process
With the NEET examination expected to be conducted again for medical admissions in the coming days, the NMC has initiated the approval and renewal process for medical institutions across the country. According to the official notification, all existing colleges that hold a Letter of Permission (LoP) to run MBBS courses must submit the required annual report under the Medical Education Regulations.
Compulsory Submission
The NMC clarified that submission of the report is compulsory for institutions seeking approval for MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic year. Colleges that have not registered with the Aadhaar-based biometric attendance system will be unable to access the NMC portal for the submission process. Institutions have also been instructed to ensure that all data uploaded on the portal is accurate and consistent with records shared with various NMC boards.
No Corrections Allowed
The commission warned that once the application is submitted, no corrections or modifications will be permitted. It also stated that the NMC reserves the right to publicly disclose the submitted information whenever required. Colleges applying for undergraduate medical seat permissions must also pay the prescribed fee online along with the application.
This initiative aims to streamline the approval process and ensure transparency in medical education. Medical colleges are advised to complete the submission well before the deadline to avoid any last-minute issues. The NMC's move is expected to benefit students by ensuring that only compliant institutions are allowed to admit students for the upcoming academic year.
