Nashik Police Arrest Burglar, Recover Gold Worth Rs 6.5 Lakh

The city police in Nashik have successfully apprehended a burglar and recovered gold jewellery valued at over Rs 6.5 lakh from his possession. The arrest was made in connection with a theft case that had been registered with the Gangapur police three years ago.

Operation Led by Senior Officers

Acting on the directives of Commissioner of Police Sandeep Karnik and other senior officials, the crime branch police intensified efforts to gather intelligence on burglars wanted in house break-in cases. On Thursday, Head Constable Prashant Markad of the crime branch unit 1 received a tip-off that a suspicious individual was moving around the Anandvali-Chandshi bridge area with stolen gold. The police immediately laid a trap and apprehended the suspect, identified as Kishor Bhalerao (22), a resident of Joshiwada, Gangapur Road.

Recovery of Stolen Jewellery

Upon searching Bhalerao, the police recovered over 41 grams of gold jewellery, estimated to be worth Rs 6.5 lakh. During interrogation, Bhalerao confessed that approximately three years ago, he and two accomplices had broken into a bungalow in Savarkarnagar, Gangapur Road, and stolen the gold jewellery. He admitted that he had kept his share of the loot and was planning to sell it. A theft case had been registered at the Gangapur police station in November 2022 regarding this burglary.
