Man Dies by Suicide After Losing Rs 35 Lakh in Online Trading

A 40-year-old man died by suicide on an agricultural land at Kolathur in Dharmapuri district on Wednesday after losing Rs 35 lakh in online trading. The deceased has been identified as K Narayanan of Pennagaram.

Background of the Incident

Narayanan was running a shop in the area and is survived by his wife, Tamil (32), a 13-year-old daughter, and a six-year-old son. Police stated that Tamil attempted to contact Narayanan over the phone on Wednesday evening as he did not return home from his shop at the usual time. The family, along with Narayanan's friend Vadivel, launched a search for him.

Discovery of the Body

Vadivel found his friend dead on an agricultural land at Kolathur around 10:30 pm. "Narayanan had consumed poison," a police officer confirmed. Police recovered the body and sent it to the Mettur Government Hospital for a postmortem examination. A case has been registered.
