Lucknow University to Introduce Digital Evaluation System for Answer Sheets
Lucknow University Digital Evaluation System for Answer Sheets

Lucknow University is set to revolutionize its examination process by introducing a digital evaluation system for answer sheets starting from the next academic session. This move aims to minimize errors and accelerate the declaration of results.

Current Manual System Challenges

At present, the university relies on a manual system where physical answer sheets are transported to evaluation centers and checked by examiners. Marks are calculated manually and later entered into the system, a process that often leads to delays in results and increases the chances of errors such as miscalculations or misplacement of answer sheets.

New Digital System Features

Under the new system, answer sheets will be scanned immediately after examinations and uploaded onto a secure evaluation portal. These digital copies will then be randomly assigned to examiners, eliminating the need for physical movement of answer sheets and reducing the risk of tampering or loss. The controller of examinations, Vidyanand Tripathi, stated, “Under the new system, answer sheets will be scanned after exams and uploaded on a secure evaluation portal. These digital copies will then be randomly assigned to examiners, removing the need for the physical movement of answer sheets and reducing the chances of tampering or loss.”

Step-by-Step Evaluation Process

The evaluation process will be conducted in a structured manner. First, scanned copies of answer sheets will be uploaded to a central server. Then, examiners will receive login credentials, and copies will be allotted randomly to ensure unbiased assessment. Teachers will then check answers on screen using a digital interface, entering marks question-wise. The system will automatically calculate the total marks, reducing manual calculation errors.

AI Checks and Transparency

Built-in artificial intelligence checks will ensure that no question is left unchecked. Any discrepancy or anomaly will be flagged for moderation, guaranteeing accuracy and fairness. Once the evaluation is complete, marks will be recorded instantly in the university database, enabling faster result processing. Tripathi added, “The digital evaluation system will bring transparency and accountability to the process. It will minimise human errors and help us declare results on time. The system will also track evaluation timelines and allow quicker processing of payments for examiners.”

Benefits for Students and Staff

This digital transformation is expected to benefit both students and faculty. Students will receive their results more promptly, while examiners will experience streamlined workflows and faster payment processing. The system also enhances security and reduces the administrative burden associated with handling physical answer sheets.
