JGBS, Chetak Foundation Launch Transport Operations Course

Sonipat, June 11, 2026: Jindal Global Business School (JGBS) of O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chetak Foundation, the skill-development and social initiative of the Chetak Group. This partnership will introduce a new industry course focused on transport operations, designed to move JGBS students beyond traditional lectures and into Chetak's active operations, including warehouses, fleet control centers, and freight corridors. This initiative is part of a broader effort by JGBS to integrate industry experiences into management education.

Partnership Details

The Chetak Group, headquartered in New Delhi, is a prominent multimodal logistics provider in India, offering services in road transport, warehousing, freight forwarding, and integrated supply chain solutions across various sectors. The Chetak Foundation, established by the Group, aims to enhance employability and industry readiness among India's youth. JGBS, recognized as India's top-ranked private university business school in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 and among the top 200 globally in the same ranking, brings academic rigor to this collaboration.

Industry Relevance

The course is launched at a crucial time for the logistics sector. The global multimodal transport market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of approximately six to seven percent over the next decade. This growth is expected to create significant career opportunities and a demand for managerial talent skilled in both operations and analytics. The JGBS-Chetak course is tailored to meet this need, with a pedagogical design that emphasizes analytical readiness in the classroom before transitioning to live field environments. The goal is to shift students from theoretical knowledge to practical application and learning from real-world experiences.

Quotes from Leaders

Professor (Dr.) C. Raj Kumar, Founding Vice Chancellor of JGU, stated: “Logistics is central to India's development, trade, and job creation, and business schools must prepare students for this reality. Our partnership with the Chetak Foundation provides management students with access to operational environments where they can observe supply chains, ask practical questions, and propose solutions evaluated in real-world operations. As an Institution of Eminence, JGU is committed to contributing to national growth by training a skilled workforce, and this partnership reinforces that mission.”

Under the MoU, JGBS students will gain structured access to Chetak's operational ecosystem through internships, on-site visits to warehouses, transport yards, and freight hubs, and industry-led sessions conducted by senior logistics professionals from the Chetak Group.

Mr. Mukesh Haritash, Managing Director of Chetak Group, commented: “We are thrilled to partner with JGBS to bridge the gap between academic excellence and practical industry needs. By combining Chetak Group's logistics expertise and Chetak Foundation's commitment to skill development with JGU's world-class education, we aim to equip future leaders with real-world skills. This collaboration reflects our shared vision of empowering youth and driving sustainable, knowledge-led growth.”

Professor (Dr.) Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik, Registrar of JGU, added: “The Chetak Foundation's skill-development mandate aligns with our goal of building long-term student engagements. We look forward to seeing this work mature across cohorts. JGU and JGBS have been integrating curriculum with industry requirements, and partnerships like this make that direction concrete for our students.”

Key Areas of Cooperation

The agreement includes a knowledge partnership for courses in supply chain, logistics, and related areas; industry guest lectures on the JGU campus; and joint research between Chetak professionals and JGBS faculty.

The Dean of JGBS, Professor (Dr.) Mayank Dhaundiyal, said: “I am very pleased about this association with the Chetak Foundation. Multimodal logistics is a key part of India's growth story, and our students will work on live problem statements from Chetak's operations, addressing issues that supply chain managers face daily. This exposure complements classroom case work and simulations, helping students see how theoretical ideas play out in practice. We want our graduates to leave with not just a strong transcript but also the judgment and industry sense that this partnership uniquely builds.”

For JGBS students, the partnership offers a direct view of how the logistics industry operates on the ground. They will engage with live problem statements alongside Chetak Group professionals, applying concepts like network design, fleet utilization, warehousing efficiency, and last-mile delivery in real business settings. Beyond projects and site visits, Chetak's senior leadership will deliver guest sessions on campus, providing insights into decision-making within a working logistics business.
