Green SM Launches All-Electric Cab Service in India, Challenges Ola and Uber
Green SM Launches Electric Cab Service in India

India's ride-hailing market has a new entrant. Green SM, the all-electric cab service operated by Vietnam's Vingroup, has officially begun operations in India from June 5, 2026, starting with Delhi-NCR. The company plans to deploy around 10,000 electric vehicles in the NCR region alone.

Business Model and Fleet

The platform arrives as a challenger to players like Ola and Uber, however it has entered the market with a different business model. Unlike traditional ride-hailing aggregators that rely on driver-owned cars from multiple manufacturers, Green SM will operate a company-controlled electric fleet. This allows the operator to manage everything from vehicle quality and maintenance to driver training, charging schedules and customer experience.

The service will initially use electric vehicles from within the Vingroup ecosystem. The first model expected on Indian roads is the Limo Green MPV. Green SM has officially launched its India operations, expanding its presence beyond markets such as Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia and the Philippines.

Pricing and Initial Deployment

Pricing could become one of Green SM's biggest advantages in the early stages. Reportedly, Green SM will initially deploy around 1,000 electric cars across Delhi-NCR. This story is still developing, and additional details will be updated once more information becomes available.
