Chandigarh Police has apprehended a man for allegedly attempting to smuggle heroin into the city. The suspect, identified as Gulshan (32), resides in Bapudham Colony, Sector 26. The arrest took place during a routine patrol by a team from the Sector-26 police station, which was actively monitoring the area to curb anti-social activities.

While on patrol near block No. 725 in Bapudham Colony, officers intercepted Gulshan on suspicion. A thorough search led to the recovery of 11.56 grams of heroin from his possession. Following the discovery, he was taken to the police station, where a case was registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police investigations revealed that Gulshan has a criminal background, with five previous cases registered against him. These include offenses under the Arms Act, as well as charges of dacoity, theft, and NDPS violations. His history indicates a pattern of involvement in serious crimes.

After his arrest, Gulshan was produced before a local court, which remanded him in police custody for further interrogation. Authorities are now focusing on tracing the source of the contraband and identifying the intended supply network, particularly within Bapudham Colony and neighboring areas.
