Yamunanagar: Police have registered a case against a man for allegedly uploading and circulating derogatory and inflammatory content against Sikh Gurus and religion on Facebook and other social media platforms.
Complaint Filed by Gurdwara Manager
The case was filed after Ravinder Singh, manager of Gurdwara Sahib Patshahi Pehli Dasvin at Kapal Mochan in Yamunanagar, submitted a complaint to Yamunanagar SP Kamaldeep Goyal on Tuesday. In the complaint, Ravinder Singh alleged that the accused, Yash Kumar, uploaded posts that could disturb communal harmony.
Allegations and Legal Action
The complainant alleged that the accused deliberately used social media platforms to circulate hateful and inflammatory content. He urged police to conduct a cyber investigation, preserve electronic evidence, and remove the alleged offensive material from online platforms. Acting on the complaint, cyber crime police registered a case under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including provisions related to outraging religious feelings, promoting enmity, intentional insult, and public mischief, along with Section 67 of the Information Technology Act related to publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are working to trace the origin of the posts and gather digital evidence. The case highlights the growing concern over misuse of social media for spreading hate speech and communal tension. Authorities have urged citizens to refrain from sharing such content and to report any inflammatory material to the cyber crime cell.
