Blinkit Unveils RuPay-Powered NCMC Bharat Yatra Card for Nationwide Travel

In a significant move to revolutionize urban mobility in India, Blinkit has officially launched the NCMC Bharat Yatra Card, powered by RuPay. This innovative card, announced by CEO Albinder Dhindsa on Tuesday, aims to simplify public transport payments across multiple cities by supporting instant UPI top-ups and eliminating the need for city-specific transport cards.

Key Features and Pricing

The NCMC Bharat Yatra Card is available for a nominal cost of ₹50 and operates without requiring any KYC (Know Your Customer) verification, making it highly accessible to users. In a social media post on X, Albinder Dhindsa highlighted the card's benefits, stating, "Today, we're launching the NCMC Bharat Yatra Card on Blinkit. It's a ₹50, zero-KYC, RuPay powered card by Pine Labs which supports instant UPI top-ups and also eliminates the need for city-specific transport cards."

He further emphasized that this initiative represents a meaningful step in promoting public transport usage, including metros and buses, across various Indian cities. Currently, Blinkit has commenced deliveries in key metropolitan areas, specifically Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and Ahmedabad.

Design and Availability

The Bharat Yatra Card features artistic illustrations of India's iconic monuments, such as the Taj Mahal, India Gate, and the Gateway of India, adding a cultural touch to its functionality. As of now, Blinkit is distributing this national mobility card exclusively within the aforementioned regions, leveraging its quick-commerce platform to provide high-speed doorstep delivery of the transit instrument.

Background and Industry Impact

This rollout builds on Pine Labs' expanding portfolio of transport payment solutions, following its collaboration with Flipkart in October 2025 for NCMC card distribution. For Blinkit, this marks a pioneering effort as a quick-commerce service venturing into the transit sector by offering a convenient payment tool through rapid delivery services.

Understanding the NCMC Card

The National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) is an official, unified payment instrument designed for transit systems across India. Its key functionalities include:

  • Contactless entry for metro systems, bus routes, and parking zones.
  • Integration with RuPay for seamless shopping and transportation payments.
  • Real-time reloading capabilities via the UPI network.
  • Inter-city travel capability without the necessity of local transit passes.

This launch underscores Blinkit's commitment to enhancing digital payment solutions and supporting India's push towards a more integrated and efficient public transport ecosystem.
