Archana Puran Singh's younger son, Ayushmaan Sethi, recently disclosed that he fell victim to an online scam involving Rs 84,000. He had previously revealed this on their vlog and mentioned that he recovered the money. However, he has now elaborated on the incident in detail during his brother Aaryamann Sethi's latest YouTube vlog, which also prompted Archana to share her own experience of being defrauded online during a family trip to Dubai.
Details of the Scam
Speaking about the fraud, Ayushmaan said, 'I got scammed, and that became big news because the Cyber Crime branch wants to do an awareness campaign in which one of the interviews will be of me. I got scammed last year.' Aaryamann interrupted and argued that he technically 'didn't get scammed' since the money was refunded. Ayushmaan then clarified that the refund came from his credit card company, not from the scammers, who were never apprehended.
Explaining what happened, Aaryamann said, 'They took Rs 84K from his credit card on PlayStation Network. The PlayStation Network was hacked.' Ayushmaan added, 'I reported the fraud with the credit card company and they returned the money to me.'
Archana Puran Singh's Own Scam Experience
During the same conversation, Archana recalled how she lost Rs 30,000 in an online scam while traveling in Dubai last year. The family had booked tickets for an indoor skydiving experience online, only to discover upon arrival that no reservation existed in their name. They later realized they had unknowingly booked through a fake website.
Recalling the incident in an earlier vlog, Archana said, 'We have been scammed because the website wasn't real. Did we just get scammed in Dubai?' Reacting to the situation, her husband Parmeet Sethi sarcastically remarked, 'Enjoy, whoever has conned us.'
This incident serves as a cautionary tale about the prevalence of online scams and the importance of verifying websites before making payments. The Sethi family's experiences highlight how even vigilant individuals can fall prey to sophisticated frauds.
