The Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ahmedabad, Ved Prakash, visited the National Institute of Design (NID) on Thursday as part of a mission to modernize passenger amenities. During the visit, he engaged with officials and students of the Railway Design Centre (RDC) at NID to discuss the future of transit aesthetics. The RDC, a collaborative hub for innovation, is set to remain operational until 2035, ensuring a continuous stream of creative solutions for the railway network, according to a release by the Western Railway.
Inspection of Innovative Parcel Trolley
Ved Prakash meticulously inspected a cutting-edge parcel trolley developed by NID, among other significant innovations. The trolley is designed to drastically ease the movement of parcels between crowded platforms and parcel vans. Officials emphasized that the design prioritizes ergonomics and better manoeuvrability to reduce manual strain on workers.
Field Testing at Kalupur Station
The prototype trolley will undergo a rigorous field inspection by railway officials at Kalupur railway station on Friday. This test will assess its durability and performance in real-world conditions, added the release. The successful deployment of such innovations aims to enhance operational efficiency and passenger experience across the network.
