In a remarkable achievement, eight faculty members of the Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT-P), led by its director T N Singh, have secured prominent positions in the 'World's Best Scientists Ranking 2026' released by the US-based global ranking platform 'Research.com'. This ranking is based on global research performance, quality of publications, citations, and the impact of scientific contributions.
Top Rankings in Earth Sciences and Engineering
According to the ranking, IIT-P director T N Singh has secured the first position in India in the field of earth sciences. Additionally, he has been ranked 9th nationwide in the engineering and technology category, reflecting his significant contributions to these fields.
Other Faculty Achievements
Several other faculty members of the institute have achieved notable positions in different disciplines. In mathematics, Pratibhamoy Das secured the 36th rank in India. In the field of computer science, Asif Eqbal and Sriparna Saha secured the 47th and 94th ranks, respectively.
In the category of mechanical and aerospace engineering, Surajit Kumar Paul ranked 78th, Akhilendra Singh ranked 88th, and Karali Patra ranked 102nd in the country. In the field of electrical engineering, Ranjan Kumar Behera secured the 58th rank nationwide.
Previous Recognition
Earlier, as many as 21 faculty members, including the director of IIT-P, had been featured in the list of top two percent scientists of the world released by Stanford University in September 2025. This consistent recognition underscores the institute's growing research prowess.
