Unlike a few years ago, EV ownership is no longer limited to higher budget segments. Customers now have multiple options within the Rs 15 lakh bracket, offering practical driving range, essential features, and suitability for daily commuting.
From compact city-focused models to larger family-oriented vehicles, the market offers a range of choices to suit different requirements. Here is a look at some of the most affordable electric cars currently available in India under Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom, without Battery as a Service).
1. Tata Tiago EV
The first EV on the list is the Tata Tiago EV, priced from Rs 6.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It is offered in four variants and two battery pack options: 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh. The 24 kWh battery variant delivers 75 hp and 114 Nm, while the 19.2 kWh version produces 61 hp and 110 Nm. The claimed MIDC range for the larger battery has increased to 285 km from 293 km, whereas the smaller battery variant now offers 226 km, up from 223 km. According to Tata Motors, the real-world C75 range is estimated at 205-215 km for the 24 kWh version and 160-170 km for the 19.2 kWh model.
2. MG Comet EV
The second EV on the list is the MG Comet EV, priced from Rs 7.6 lakh (ex-showroom). The MG Comet EV is offered in five variants: Executive, Excite, Excite Fast Charge, Exclusive, and Exclusive Fast Charge. It gets a 17.3 kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor that puts out 42 hp and 110 Nm of torque, sending power to the rear wheels. The battery is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance and has an ARAI-certified range of 230 km.
3. Tata Punch EV
Another Tata Motors car on the list is the Tata Punch EV, priced from Rs 9.7 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch EV is offered with two battery pack options: 30 kWh and 40 kWh, and is available in five variants: Smart, Smart+, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered+ S. Prices for the non-BaaS versions range from Rs 9.69 lakh to Rs 12.59 lakh, ex-showroom. The larger battery pack has an ARAI-certified range of 468 km on a single charge and a C75 real-world range of 355 km.
4. Citroen eC3
Next is the Citroen eC3, priced from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The Citroen eC3 is equipped with a 29.2 kWh battery pack that powers the front-mounted electric motor, putting out 56 hp of power and 143 Nm of torque. The eC3 has an ARAI-certified range of 320 km on a single charge.
5. Tata Tigor EV
Next up is the Tata Tigor EV, priced from Rs 12.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tata Tigor EV is powered by a 75 hp electric motor producing 170 Nm of torque, paired with a 26 kWh battery pack. The sedan offers an ARAI-certified range of 315 km on a single charge. The battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 59 minutes using a DC fast charger.
