FanCode Wins Digital Rights for 2025/26 ISL Season
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) announced on Monday that FanCode has secured the digital media rights for the upcoming 2025/26 season of the Indian Super League (ISL). This development marks a significant step forward in resolving the uncertainty that has surrounded the league's media distribution.
Television Broadcast Partner Yet to Be Finalized
While FanCode will deliver the digital-first viewing experience, the crucial question of which entity will broadcast the ISL matches on linear television remains unanswered. As a dedicated digital streaming platform, FanCode does not operate its own TV channel, necessitating a partnership with a television broadcaster.
The AIFF clarified in its official statement that the final decision regarding the television broadcast partner will be made collectively by FanCode, the AIFF, and the ISL clubs. This collaborative approach ensures all stakeholders have a voice in selecting the platform that will bring live ISL action to television screens across the nation.
KPS Studios Appointed as Production House
In a parallel announcement, Kaleidoscope Production and Services (KPS Studios) has been confirmed as the official production partner for the league. KPS Studios brings considerable experience to the table, having previously managed production for prestigious football tournaments including the I-League, Durand Cup, and Bengal Super League.
Official Statements Highlight Strategic Vision
M Satyanarayan, AIFF Deputy Secretary General, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, "We are pleased to have concluded the ISL media rights process and to partner with FanCode, one of India’s leading sports platforms. FanCode’s focus on accessibility and fan experience aligns with our objective of expanding the league’s footprint and engaging more football fans across the country."
Yannick Colaco, co-founder of FanCode, emphasized the strategic importance of the ISL, remarking, "The Indian Super League is a significant addition to FanCode as it represents the very best of Indian football. With the league’s strong and loyal fan following, we see a big opportunity to elevate how fans experience ISL through reliable, high-quality broadcast and a product designed around modern football audiences."
Resolving the Season's Impasse
The conclusion of the media rights bidding process represents a critical milestone in ending the impasse that has affected the 2025/26 ISL season and the broader Indian football landscape. The league is scheduled to commence on February 14, as announced last month by Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya during a meeting with AIFF officials and representatives from all 14 ISL clubs.
Minister Mandaviya had previously addressed the challenges, noting, "Due to a court dispute there was a lot of uncertainty about the Indian Super League but today the government and AIFF along with club representatives of all 14 clubs have decided to start the league again." This resolution paves the way for a much-anticipated return of top-tier domestic football action in India.
