Udupi Externs Cricket Betting Accused Bharath Das

Udupi: In a stringent action against illegal cricket betting, the Special Executive Magistrate and Superintendent of Police of Udupi district issued an externment order against an accused on Thursday. The accused has been identified as Bharath Jayaram Das, a 34-year-old resident of Varamballi village in Brahmavar taluk of Udupi district.

Details of the Case

Three separate cases related to cricket betting have been registered against Das at the Kota and Kundapur police stations. Among these, he has been convicted in one case, while the remaining two are currently under investigation. The authorities have taken a stern view of his involvement in illegal betting activities.

Extended Jurisdiction

In a notable move, the authorities have extended the jurisdiction of the externment order to include the Kengeri Police Station, which falls under the Bengaluru Commissionerate limits. This expansion aims to prevent the accused from continuing his illegal activities in other regions beyond Udupi district.
