The Sports Hub (TSH) in Kanpur has decided to provide free coaching to talented cricketers for the first time. The ninth batch of free coaching for economically weaker section (EWS) players will begin on July 6.
Coordination Committee Meeting
A coordination committee meeting was held on Friday to discuss the implementation of the scheme's ninth batch. The meeting took place at the TSH complex at 1 pm, during which the selection process, training program, and sport-wise seat allocations for the upcoming session were finalized.
Attendees included Additional Municipal Commissioner-II Jagdish Yadav, Kanpur Smart City Limited representative Mukesh Kumar Verma, Uttar Pradesh Table Tennis Association President Sanjeev Pathak, DAV College professor and Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association Secretary Devesh Dubey, and Audi Stadia consultants.
Training Schedule and Application Process
It was decided that training for the current eighth batch will conclude on July 5, and training for the ninth batch will commence on July 6. Distribution of application forms will begin on June 15, with a deadline for submission set for June 26. Selection trials will be held starting July 1.
A total of 304 players will be selected under the EWS scheme this time.
Inclusion of Cricket
The most significant achievement is the inclusion of cricket in the TSH EWS scheme for the first time. A total of 44 players will be selected for cricket across two age groups: the first group will comprise players aged 8 to 14 years, and the second group will include those aged 15 to 18 years. Twenty-two players will be selected from each group.
