The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that spectators will be permitted to attend the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026 final. Naqvi, who also holds the position of interior minister, announced on social media that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has "graciously approved" fan attendance for the May 3 final, scheduled to take place in Lahore.
The 2026 PSL season was initially played behind closed doors following government restrictions on public movement due to soaring fuel prices linked to the Middle East conflict. As part of broader efforts to manage fuel consumption, the government had advised citizens to limit travel and work from home.
Naqvi stated that while Sharif was inclined to allow fans into the stadium, the prime minister also emphasized that austerity measures remain in effect across the country to reduce fuel usage.
Playoff Race Heats Up
On the cricketing front, Peshawar Zalmi, led by Babar Azam, Multan Sultans, and three-time champions Islamabad United have already secured their places in the playoffs ahead of next week's knockout stage. Defending champions Lahore Qalandars, newcomers Hyderabad Kingmen, and Karachi Kings are still competing for the fourth and final playoff spot.
