Parvez Rasool Celebrates Jammu and Kashmir's Historic Ranji Trophy Victory

Former Indian cricketer Parvez Rasool, the first player from Jammu and Kashmir to represent India, has expressed immense pride and emotion following his home team's maiden Ranji Trophy title win. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Rasool praised the team's achievement, which ended a 67-year wait for the coveted trophy.

Auqib Nabi's Outstanding Performance Takes Center Stage

Rasool specifically highlighted the exceptional contributions of bowler Auqib Nabi, calling the season "his show." Nabi played a pivotal role in Jammu and Kashmir's success, consistently taking crucial wickets across all matches, regardless of pitch conditions favoring bowlers or batsmen.

His remarkable performance culminated in him finishing as the leading wicket-taker of the 2025/26 Ranji Trophy season. Nabi claimed an impressive 60 wickets in just 10 matches, maintaining an average of 12.56 and securing seven five-wicket hauls.

Emotional Moment for Jammu and Kashmir

"It is a proud and emotional moment for the entire J&K. We have won the Ranji Trophy after 67 years," Rasool stated. He credited former Indian spinner Bishan Singh Bedi, who once coached the J&K team, for instilling a winning mentality. "Bishan Singh Bedi, when he took charge of J&K cricket, taught us how to win. It was Auqib Nabi's show. Auqib Nabi had talent, and he showed it through his performance," he added.

Deputy CM Surinder Chaudhary Applauds Team's Achievement

Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary also lauded the team's historic feat, emphasizing that it proves the region's potential in cricket. "It is a proud day for Jammu and Kashmir... After 67 years, a team from J&K has won this cup... These children have proved that J&K is no less than any other state," Chaudhary told ANI.

He further expressed optimism about future opportunities, noting, "The BCCI might pick 1 or 2 children who will play on a higher level from this team itself."

Fairytale Victory Led by Paras Dogra

Under the leadership of Paras Dogra, Jammu and Kashmir secured a fairytale victory in their first-ever Ranji Trophy final. They defeated a strong Karnataka team, led by Devdutt Padikkal, by establishing a massive 291-run lead in the first innings, which Karnataka could not overcome during the match on Saturday.
