The Kansas City Chiefs experienced a significant decline in performance last season, failing to reach the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. With a record of 6 wins and 11 losses, the team struggled on the field. As the new season approaches, the Chiefs are focused on improving their roster.
Chiefs Linked to Former Star Tyreek Hill
According to CBS Sports' Bryan DeArdo, the Kansas City Chiefs may consider a move for their former player, Tyreek Hill. DeArdo noted that Hill has had a quiet offseason as he recovers from a severe knee injury sustained last year. At 32 years old and coming off a major injury, Hill's best chance to play this season might be back in Kansas City in a complementary role.
DeArdo added that while the Chiefs are not lacking at receiver, having too many wideouts is never a problem in today's NFL. Hill's rapport with quarterback Patrick Mahomes also strengthens the case for a reunion.
Hill's Injury History and Performance
The 32-year-old wide receiver has been a dominant force on the field but has faced brutal injuries in recent seasons. In Week 4 of last season, Hill suffered a dislocated left knee and tore multiple ligaments, including his ACL, ending his season. Before the injury, he played in only four games, recording 21 receptions for 265 yards and one touchdown.
In February, the Miami Dolphins released Hill amid reports that he might miss the first few games of the upcoming season. Additionally, Hill played through a severe wrist injury during the 2024 season, finishing with 81 receptions for 959 yards and six touchdowns in 17 games.
Current Status and Future Outlook
The Chiefs have not yet responded to trade talks regarding Hill, who remains unsigned. All eyes are on where Hill will end up as he continues his recovery. The team's interest in reuniting with the star receiver highlights their determination to bounce back from a disappointing season.
