BCA Election Officer Vows Transparent Process Amid Venue Dispute
In a significant development ahead of the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) elections, election officer Varesh Sinha on Friday provided assurances to the Royal Satyamev Jayate Group that the upcoming polls will be conducted with complete fairness and transparency. This statement comes amidst growing concerns and objections raised by various factions within the association regarding the electoral process.
Election Date and Venue Finalized in Apex Council Meeting
Sinha clarified that the election date and the chosen venue were formally decided during the BCA apex council meeting held on January 3. He emphasized that the entire process followed established protocols to ensure legitimacy and adherence to association bylaws.
"The notice for the election of BCA for the term 2026-29 was officially notified by the Honorable Secretary, BCA," Sinha stated in his detailed reply. "This was accomplished by releasing advertisements in all leading newspapers as well as by dispatching individual notices to each member via courier."
He further highlighted that the BCA office confirmed receiving no objections during the apex council meeting or the notification period. "It was approved in the apex council meeting without any objection," Sinha added, underscoring the unanimous nature of the decision at the time.
Royal Satyamev Jayate Group Raises Venue Concerns
The Royal Satyamev Jayate Group has raised strong objections to the selected poll venue at Ram Baug. The group argues that this location is under the control of a candidate from the rival Revival Group, potentially compromising the impartiality of the electoral process.
In response to these allegations, a member of the Revival Group questioned the timing of the objections. "Some members of the Royal Group were part of the apex council when this decision was taken. Why didn't they object to the date and poll venue at that time?" the member pointed out, suggesting that the concerns may have emerged belatedly.
Enhanced Security Measures for Election Integrity
To address security and fairness concerns, Sinha outlined specific measures that will be implemented. The election venue will be taken over by the electoral team two days prior to the polling day to prevent any unauthorized entry or interference, he assured.
Additionally, Sinha mentioned that meticulous care has been taken to update the voter list. "Due care was taken to remove the names of deceased BCA members upon receipt of proper documentary proof," he said, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll.
