"All of you in the committee have played substantial cricket at the highest level, yet you still appear to lack clarity about who should captain the team in which format," he added, highlighting what he perceives as fundamental leadership confusion.

Afridi reserved particular criticism for what he described as excessive and misguided experimentation with inexperienced players. "You continue making numerous decisions under the guise of 'surgery.' What you are actually doing is selecting youngsters and players who have barely participated in a handful of first-class matches," he argued.
He questioned the quality of Pakistan's domestic cricket structure, suggesting it cannot consistently produce players ready for international cricket. "Your domestic cricket system does not even maintain the standard required to consistently develop players capable of securing permanent positions in the Pakistan national team," Afridi asserted, questioning the foundation of the selection committee's youth-focused strategy.

The former captain further claimed that experienced players with strong ODI records had been unjustly pushed aside. While not mentioning specific names, his comments appeared to reference players like Babar Azam and Fakhar Zaman, who were omitted from Pakistan's squad for the Bangladesh series.
"The senior players who genuinely deserved their places based on ODI performances, even if their T20 records weren't as strong, possessed excellent ODI statistics. Yet, under the banner of 'surgery,' you sidelined these experienced performers despite their proven ODI capabilities," Afridi stated, emphasizing what he views as a flawed selection philosophy.
Selection Strategy Lacks Direction and Could Destabilize Team
Afridi concluded his critique by arguing that the selectors' approach lacks coherent direction and could potentially destabilize the national team structure. "Instead of relying on proven performers, you introduced youngsters who have participated in only a limited number of domestic and first-class matches. The domestic cricket standard remains insufficient, and these players are not prepared to immediately enter the Pakistan team and establish themselves," he explained.
He challenged the selection committee's methodology, stating: "You keep distributing Pakistan caps repeatedly—this does not constitute surgery. If any surgery is genuinely required, it should be performed on the selection committee itself," Afridi concluded, calling for fundamental changes in the selection process.
