Jaguar's TheBurntChip Triumphs in Formula E EVO Session in Jeddah
The excitement from the Jeddah E-Prix carried into Sunday as Jaguar TCS Racing celebrated another victory, this time in the Formula E EVO Session. Antonio Felix da Costa's win on Saturday was followed by a thrilling performance from content creator Josh Larkin, known as TheBurntChip, who drove for Jaguar under the Senor Frogs team.
Close Finish and Competitive Field
TheBurntChip narrowly defeated his teammate Behzinga (Ethan Payne) by just 0.421 seconds, setting a fastest lap time of 1:28.212 on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. Despite Behzinga delivering his quickest lap of the day, it wasn't enough to secure the win. The race format mirrored Formula E's qualifying structure, with ten selected content creators split into two teams: Senor Frogs and Quickstars.
Josh Larkin, a prominent YouTuber, influencer, and podcaster who creates gaming and vlog content and often collaborates with the Sidemen, expressed his joy after the victory. "I have been working very hard for it. It does mean a lot. Honestly, I put in so many hours watching Mitch (Evans) and looking at videos of braking zones on my phone. I think it paid off in the end, as Ethan (Behzinga) put in a great time," he said.
Top Performers and Notable Incidents
The podium featured TheBurntChip of Jaguar TCS Racing in first place, followed by Behzinga of DS Penske, and WillNE of Mahindra Racing. Max Klymenko of Citroen Racing ended up with the wooden spoon as the slowest driver of the day.
The event was not without drama. Izzy Hammond of Lola Yamaha ABT crashed into the barrier at Turn 13 while attempting to advance to the semifinals. Hammond, the daughter of former Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond, took the incident in stride after being cleared by medical staff. "My first thought was, 'Everyone's watching, my dad is watching, he's going to cry or something. Can someone just tell him that I'm okay!' It wasn't a small crash. If you're going to crash, you've got to really crash. I saw the wall coming, and I knew I was going to hit it at speed. It happens, but I'm okay. Richard did it, now I've done it. So now we're even!" she remarked.
Other incidents included famous TikToker Khaby Lame spinning out while driving for Nissan, and JUCA, who had prior Formula E experience from last year's EVO Session, colliding with the wall in Dan Ticktum's Cupra Kiro car and exiting the race.
