Pacers: The Silent Architects of Success at Times Internet Half Marathon

At the Times Internet Half Marathon, the true momentum of the race was not solely generated by raw speed but by those who mastered the art of control. Pacers—steady, disciplined, and intensely focused—emerged as the silent architects of the course, meticulously guiding hundreds of runners toward their personal goals with remarkable precision.

Immediate Impact in the 10K Category

In the 10K category, the influence of pacers was immediate and profound. Groups of runners moved in harmonious rhythm, anchored by experienced pacers like Sonu Kumar and Gaurav Kumar. They maintained a strong, consistent pace, finishing remarkably close to their 60-minute targets with times of 57:30 and 58:30, respectively. For many participants, this structured approach meant running with clarity and purpose instead of succumbing to pressure.

Jitendra Advani, boasting over a decade of running experience and a strong commitment to promoting fitness within the community, brought exceptional leadership and stability to the course. Alongside him, Payal Badlani maintained a well-balanced pace for the 70-minute group, with the duo completing their runs at 1:09:16 and 1:06:54, demonstrating the power of collaborative pacing.

Discipline Extends to 80 and 90-Minute Groups

The same unwavering discipline carried into the 80 and 90-minute groups. Sunil Kumar Johri and Abhay Kohli ensured runners stayed steady and composed through the challenging middle stretch of the race. Meanwhile, Rita Basu and Shalu Dudeja expertly guided participants to strong finishes just under the 90-minute mark.

For Shalu Dudeja, this moment carried deeper personal significance. From once beginning with recovery walks, she has transformed into a pacer who now empowers others, backed by over 100 podium finishes in her running career.

The 21K: A Story of Endurance and Control

The 21K half marathon category told a compelling story of endurance and meticulous control. Vimal Bhatt and Sanjay Panghal set the tone early with composed pacing, finishing around the 2-hour mark. Pankaj Kumar Tiwari and Sankalp Kant led the 2:15 group with exceptional precision, finishing almost in perfect sync at 2:12:00 and 2:11:59.

For the 2:30 group, Tauseef Shaikh and Deepak Gupta maintained a steady rhythm across the entire distance, finishing at 2:25:14 and 2:29:01. Utkarsh Himalaya, relatively new to running, turned consistent effort into the confidence to successfully tackle half marathons, finishing strong at 2:43:35.

Alongside him, Ruhi Singh’s journey—from individual progress to empowering communities of women runners across multiple cities—added a powerful sense of purpose to the event, as she completed her run in 2:50:31.

Pacers Become Moving Anchors

As the race progressed and fatigue inevitably set in, pacers evolved beyond mere timekeepers. They became moving anchors—essential pillars of support who helped runners maintain their pace, stay mentally focused, and push through the toughest stretches of the course.

At the Times Internet Half Marathon, pacers did not run for personal recognition or glory. Yet, in every runner who finished stronger, steadier, and closer to their goal, their impact was undeniable and profound. This makes them the true backbone of the race, the unsung heroes whose disciplined guidance transforms individual efforts into collective achievement.
