Demonstrating remarkable composure and clinical precision, Nagpur's rising boxing star Samiksha Singh has stormed into the final of the U-17 National boxing championship. The event, held at the MLA Hostel, saw Samiksha assure herself of at least a silver medal and a coveted shot at the gold medal on Saturday.
Dominant Semifinal Performance Secures Final Berth
In a one-sided semifinal clash on Tuesday, Samiksha outclassed Himachal Pradesh's Harshita with a unanimous 5-0 verdict. From the opening bell, the local pugilist exhibited complete control over the bout, dictating the pace and consistently keeping her opponent on the defensive back foot.
"My strategy was to stay calm and not rush into the bout," Samiksha revealed after her commanding victory. "I focused on landing strong right punches, which helped me gain early points and significantly boosted my confidence throughout the match." Looking ahead to the highly anticipated gold medal bout, she added, "I will stick to the same fundamental strategy but plan to incorporate more aggressive attacking shots to secure the championship title."
Samiksha will now face Navya of Services in the decisive gold medal bout, setting the stage for an exciting finale.
Maharashtra Boxers Shine Across Categories
Maharashtra enjoyed an exceptionally productive day in the girls' section, with several talented boxers advancing to the finals. Shanaya secured a solid 4-1 victory over Delhi's Yashika, while Avantika delivered a dominant performance, drubbing Rajasthan's Priyanshi by an identical margin.
Furthermore, Ovi and Mamta both registered commanding 5-0 wins, overpowering Chandigarh's Shine and SSCB's Reet, respectively. These victories underscore the depth and strength of Maharashtra's boxing program at the youth level.
Boys' Category Sees Gritty and Dominant Performances
In the boys' category, Akola's Sanskar Atram showcased immense grit and tactical awareness in a closely fought contest. He edged past Uttar Pradesh's Aadarsh with a narrow 3-2 decision in a bout that went down to the wire, highlighting the competitive intensity of the championship.
Conversely, Gopal delivered a masterclass in dominance, blanking Arunachal's Kenli with a flawless 5-0 verdict to secure his place in the final. However, not all Maharashtra boxers advanced, as Sanji, Rugveda, Yugal, Samsher, and Kaustabh settled for bronze medals after suffering defeats in their respective semifinals.

Olympian and Arjuna awardee Manoj Pingale, who also serves as the association's joint secretary, expressed strong confidence in Maharashtra's prospects following the day's successes.
