In a display of skill and determination, Nagpur's rising boxing star Samiksha Singh clinched the championship title at the Maharashtra State U-17 boxing selection trials. The event was held at the SAI Centre in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, where Singh faced off against Pune's Arya Kondke in a decisive final match.
Unanimous Victory Secures State Team Spot
Competing in the 54-57 kg weight class, Samiksha Singh delivered a masterful and controlled performance to defeat Arya Kondke by a unanimous 5-0 decision. This impressive victory not only earned her the championship but also secured her selection in the Maharashtra state team for the upcoming seventh U-17 boxing national championship.
The national championship is scheduled to take place in Nagpur from April 5 to 11, providing a home-ground advantage for the local talent. Singh's path to the final included a strong showing in the semifinals, where she defeated Mumbai boxer Gauraja Mhatre by Referee Stopped Contest (RSC), showcasing her dominance in the ring.
