Ludhiana's Tarundeep Wins 110m Hurdles at Punjab Meet

Ludhiana athlete Tarundeep Singh Bhatia clocked 14.48 seconds to win the men's 110m hurdles on the opening day of the 101st Punjab State Senior Athletics Meet, held at Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana on Thursday.

Men's Events Highlights

Sehajdeep Singh from Jalandhar secured the second position with a timing of 14.6 seconds, while Pankaj Pal of Fazilka clinched the third spot, finishing in 14.99 seconds. In the men's shot put event, Dhanveer Singh of Jalandhar bagged the first position, followed by Prabhkirpal Singh of Mansa and Devinder Singh of Patiala. The javelin throw saw Robanpreet Singh of Jalandhar dominate his opponents to win top honors. Adarsh Singh, also from Jalandhar, took the second position, and Sahiljot Singh Gill of Faridkot finished third. In the 10,000m race, Lovepreet Singh of Fazilka was the fastest, crossing the finish line ahead of Simran Singh of Jalandhar and Sahil Sagar of Sangrur.

The 3,000m steeplechase event featured a thrilling competition, with Patiala's Bikram Singh emerging victorious with a time of 9:54.55 minutes. Gurpinder Singh of Muktsar finished second with a timing of 9:54.96 minutes, while Sukhwinder Singh of Fazilka secured third place at 10:05.59 minutes.

Women's Events Highlights

In the women's 100m sprint, Sumandeep Kaur was the fastest, clocking 15.23 seconds. Tasneem Kaur Dhillon of Barnala and Alfaz Kaur Grewal of Fazilka claimed the second and third positions, respectively. In the women's discus throw, Jasmeet Kaur Jagdeo of Malerkotla, Divjot Kaur of Patiala, and Tanu Poonia of Jalandhar secured the top three positions. The 2,000m steeplechase saw Ramandeep Kaur of Muktsar and Kajal of Fazilka take the first and second spots. In the 10,000m race, Jyoti Bala of Mansa finished well ahead of others to win first place. Bablu Kaur of Mansa secured the second position, and Jagmeet Kaur of Muktsar finished third.

The two-day event continues at Guru Nanak Stadium, with athletes competing across various track and field disciplines.
