Lamar Odom's Business Partnership Ended Months Before DUI Arrest
Lamar Odom's recent DUI arrest in Las Vegas brought him back into the spotlight. However, new information reveals a significant business development occurred well before this legal trouble. The former NBA champion quietly exited a rehabilitation business partnership months earlier.
Business Split Unrelated to Legal Issues
Sources close to the situation confirm the separation had nothing to do with Odom's arrest. Instead, it stemmed from fundamental disagreements about values and public messaging. The decision to part ways was difficult for everyone involved.
The split happened away from public view. Odom remained a prominent figure advocating wellness and recovery during this period. Those familiar with the venture say the choice was made with heavy hearts.
Mission Conflict Led to Partnership Dissolution
Christian hip hop artist Dontae Ralston provided specific details about the separation. He explained that Lamar Odom's partnership in a California-based rehab operation ended in late 2023 or early 2024.
This decision came less than a year after Odom and his partners acquired multiple treatment facilities. According to Ralston, the central issue involved Odom's continued public promotion of marijuana.
The conflict became impossible to reconcile with the mission of the facilities, which often treat marijuana addiction. Ralston emphasized that the work was deeply personal for everyone involved.
"We still try to communicate," Ralston said about the current relationship. "Lamar is Lamar." He added that they continue to pray for Odom and hope he succeeds, indicating no bitterness exists despite the separation.
Original Vision for Wellness Centers
When the partnership launched in April 2023, the facilities were set to operate as Odom Wellness Treatment Centers. At that time, Odom promised hands-on involvement and spoke openly about recovery.
"I'm ready to start saving lives," Odom declared during the venture's announcement. The business included a women's residential home and two men's detox and residential centers across California.
DUI Arrest Brings Business Exit Back into Focus
Odom's business departure resurfaced following his arrest early Saturday morning in Las Vegas. Police booked him on suspicion of DUI and cited him for driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit.
Authorities also charged him with improper lane change. Court records show Odom is scheduled to appear in Nevada court on March 17 to address these charges.
The timing of these events provides clearer context about Odom's recent challenges. His business separation predates the incident that later made headlines, showing two distinct developments in his life.
