Jai Sud Eyes Asian Games After Strong European Tour

Jai Sud, a young equestrian from Jalandhar, has set his sights on the 2026 Asian Games after a string of impressive performances across Europe. Representing India on the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) circuit, Sud has achieved three first-place finishes in Slovenia, along with several podium finishes in Spain, Hungary, and the Czech Republic.

Early Beginnings and Training

Sud began riding at the age of 12 while studying at Mayo College in Ajmer. He later moved to England for higher education, earning a law degree and a master’s in management, while continuing his dressage training. In July 2025, he relocated to Germany to train under renowned coach Ton de Ridder and his team at Gestüt Moosbend. According to his father, Gaurav Sud, a businessman, this move provided exposure to top-level training and competition.

International Debut and Achievements

Sud made his FEI international debut in Spain in March 2026. He quickly made his mark with a third-place finish in Intermediate I at his first event. Subsequent competitions saw him secure second-place finishes in Prix St. Georges and Intermediate I at the Sunshine Tour. In Hungary, he achieved sixth place in Prix St. Georges, fourth in Intermediate I, and third in Intermediate I Freestyle. At a competition in the Czech Republic, he finished third in Prix St. Georges, second in Intermediate I, and fourth in Intermediate I Freestyle. His best results came in Slovenia, where he won three first-place finishes at an FEI international competition.

Asian Games Qualification

Sud has achieved the minimum scores prescribed by the Equestrian Federation of India in Prix St. Georges, Intermediate I, and Intermediate I Freestyle. This makes him eligible for consideration in the selection process for the 2026 Asian Games. His father expressed pride, saying, “He is among a growing group of Indian riders competing regularly on the international dressage circuit. We are waiting for the moment when he represents the country at the Asian Games.”
