Youth Shot During Clash at Kabaddi Ground in Mohali Village

In a disturbing incident, a youth sustained a gunshot injury during a violent clash between two groups that gathered to settle a dispute at the kabaddi ground in Bhago Majra village, Mohali, late on Wednesday night. The injured has been identified as Rishabh Phogat, a resident of Yamunanagar, who was shot in the arm.

Details of the Incident and Police Response

According to preliminary information, the dispute between the two groups originated three to four days back during a birthday party, where an argument reportedly broke out over a personal issue. In an attempt to resolve the matter, members of both groups called for a meeting at the village kabaddi ground on Wednesday evening.

However, the situation escalated during the dialogue, leading to a physical altercation. During the clash, one of the groups allegedly opened fire, injuring Rishabh. The sound of gunshots drew local residents to the spot.

On receiving information, DSP City-2 Harsimran Singh Bal, along with the police team led by Saneta outpost in-charge Burma Singh, reached the scene and initiated an investigation. Rishabh was rushed to a private hospital in Sohana, where he is undergoing treatment. Police said his condition is stable and he is out of danger.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

The police have arrested the accused, identified as Ritinder Singh, Savaze Khan, Jobanpreet Singh, and Hardik Adlakha. They also seized the car with registration number of Malerkotla used in the incident. The accused are being interrogated about the weapon used and other persons involved in the incident.

Sources indicated that some members of the other group may also have sustained injuries, though their whereabouts and medical status are yet to be confirmed. Both groups are reportedly from Haryana.

Police said an FIR on charges of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act has been registered against the accused. The matter remains under investigation, with efforts ongoing to identify and apprehend all those involved.
