Yogi Adityanath Highlights Youth Role in India's Global Stature on National Youth Day
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath delivered an inspiring speech in Lucknow on Monday. He spoke during a program marking the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, celebrated as National Youth Day. Adityanath encouraged young people to embrace Vivekananda's principles. He stated that India's position in the world has transformed dramatically.
From Silence to Global Leadership: India's Journey
Yogi Adityanath reflected on India's historical context. He noted there was a period when the international community largely ignored India. Today, the situation is entirely different. The world cannot operate effectively without India's involvement. He specifically pointed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. When PM Modi speaks now, global leaders pay close attention and often follow his guidance.
"Amid ongoing global turmoil, nations are consistently reaching out to Modiji, seeking solutions," Adityanath said. He connected this international faith directly to India's youth. "The energy and potential of our young population symbolize this deep trust in Modiji's vision," he added.
Swami Vivekananda's Enduring Legacy and Vision
The Chief Minister paid rich tribute to Swami Vivekananda's life and work. He emphasized Vivekananda's unwavering belief that India would ascend to become a world guru. This rise, Vivekananda prophesied, would be powered by the nation's youth and its profound spiritual consciousness.
Adityanath praised Vivekananda for introducing India's rich culture and spiritual depth to a global audience. This effort gave India and the very concept of Indianness a powerful new identity. The CM described Vivekananda's personal evolution as a journey from a seeker named Narendra to a revolutionary pathbreaker.
He shared Vivekananda's core message for success. It requires intense focus on one's goals, unwavering determination, and persistent action. This inspiration, Adityanath said, continues to guide the nation in every circumstance.
A Call to Action for Uttar Pradesh's Youth
Addressing members of the Yuva Mangal Dal and Mahila Mangal Dal, the Chief Minister outlined clear expectations. He urged them to actively promote sports at the grassroots level.
- Form sports teams in every gram panchayat.
- Organize regular competitions at block, district, and state levels.
- Use these activities to build strong state-level teams.
Adityanath explained that participation in sports fosters essential teamwork skills. These skills can then be directly applied to drive development and progress in their villages.
He also called for youth involvement in critical environmental work. This includes:
- Constructing check dams to conserve water.
- Developing Amrit Sarovars (ponds).
- Reviving old, disused wells in rural areas.
Combating Drug Abuse and Honoring Historical Figures
The CM issued a strong appeal to young people to completely avoid drugs. He announced that the government will launch a determined campaign against drug abuse to protect the youth.
During his address, Yogi Adityanath also paid homage to Mata Jijabai on her birth anniversary. He honored her as the mother of the great Maratha warrior king, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Reflecting on Vivekananda's era, Adityanath described an India that had lost sight of its own potential. The country suffered under foreign rule, facing exploitation and cultural humiliation. In this dark time, the young monk Swami Vivekananda played a crucial role. He awakened India's dormant spirit and rekindled a sense of national pride and identity.
The Chief Minister concluded by quoting Vivekananda's famous 1893 speech at the Chicago Parliament of Religions. Vivekananda declared he came from the Indian tradition that teaches universal welfare. He expressed immense pride in belonging to the Hindu faith, showcasing India's spiritual heritage to the world.
