Visakha Utsav Flower Show Extended Amid Overwhelming Public Response

The Visakha Utsav flower show, organized by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) at Central Park, has been extended to Sunday following an overwhelming public response. VMRDA Chairman MV Pranav Gopal announced the extension, citing the heavy influx of visitors and the event's instant popularity.

The floral exhibition has become a major attraction, drawing thousands of visitors daily, prompting authorities to give the public more time to enjoy the vibrant displays. Gopal urged citizens to make the most of this extended opportunity to experience the botanical showcase.

Major Infrastructure Development in Payakaraopeta

In a parallel development, VMRDA officials laid the foundation stone on Saturday for a significant road construction project in Payakaraopeta. The ceremony was jointly conducted by Home Minister V Anitha, VMRDA Chairman M. V. Pranav Gopal, and Metropolitan Commissioner N Tej Bharat.

The project involves constructing a 2-kilometer-long, 100-foot-wide road at a cost of Rs 5.25 crore from VMRDA funds. According to Pranav Gopal, this initiative follows directions from Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as part of broader development efforts across Assembly constituencies within VMRDA's jurisdiction.

Road Upgrade Details and Timeline

The existing two-lane road will be upgraded to a four-lane thoroughfare featuring:

  • A central median for improved traffic management
  • A comprehensive central lighting system for enhanced safety

Tenders have already been called for the project, with completion expected within six months. The upgraded road will be formally inaugurated upon completion, marking a significant infrastructure improvement for the area.

Additional Development Plans

During the ceremony, officials revealed additional development initiatives:

  1. A convention center will be constructed on one-and-a-half acres of land with approximately Rs 2 crore from VMRDA funds
  2. Comprehensive infrastructure facilities will be developed across all 18 Assembly constituencies within the VMRDA area

Metropolitan Commissioner N Tej Bharat emphasized that these projects represent systematic steps toward providing essential infrastructure throughout the region, aligning with broader urban development goals for Visakhapatnam and its surrounding areas.
