Vijayawada Faces Heavy Traffic on NH-65 as Holidaymakers Return to Hyderabad

Heavy vehicular traffic continued without pause on Sunday along National Highway 65 in the Ibrahimpatnam area near Vijayawada. This followed large-scale return journeys to Hyderabad after the festive holidays. Thousands of vehicles headed towards Hyderabad and other destinations. Traffic congestion persisted for the second consecutive day. This situation posed a major challenge for commuters and enforcement agencies alike.

Police Implement Comprehensive Traffic Management Measures

Keeping the situation in mind, the NTR district Traffic police coordinated closely with the law and order police. They implemented comprehensive traffic management measures to ensure smooth movement. Despite the heavy inflow of vehicles and peak-hour pressure, police personnel deployed at critical junctions and diversion points. Their goal was to prevent bottlenecks and regulate traffic effectively.

The police issued an advisory urging heavy vehicle drivers to plan their travel through Vijayawada during non-peak hours. This measure aimed to reduce congestion. Motorists travelling towards Hyderabad received advice to strictly observe speed limits. They were also told to follow traffic police instructions and extend full cooperation to personnel on duty. Officials emphasised that safe and smooth journeys are possible only with public cooperation.

Advanced Technology Aids Traffic Control Efforts

Vijayawada Traffic deputy commissioner of police Shaikh Shereen Begum personally supervised the traffic operations. Advanced measures played a crucial role in managing the situation. Authorities employed real-time traffic data analysis through the ASTraM application. They used live estimation via drones and continuous ground-level monitoring. As a result, traffic congestion on the Hyderabad side was effectively avoided despite the heavy rush on Saturday and Sunday.

Officials Appreciate Efficient Management and Public Cooperation

NTR district police commissioner SV Rajasekhara Babu appreciated the Vijayawada Traffic police. He recognized their uninterrupted and efficient traffic management under challenging conditions. The traffic police also expressed gratitude to motorists who cooperated with them. This cooperation contributed to orderly movement during the high-traffic period.

The combined efforts of law enforcement and responsible driving by the public helped maintain traffic flow. This collaboration proved essential during the post-festival travel surge.
