VCK Leader Thol Thirumavalavan Downplays Actor Vijay's Political Prospects in Tamil Nadu
VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan on Saturday dismissed the political prospects of TVK leader and actor Vijay, stating that the actor would not make a significant impact in Tamil Nadu politics. He emphasized that voters in the state are politically aware and are no longer influenced by cinema popularity alone.
Media Attention Called a "Pre-Meditated Plan"
Speaking to reporters at Chennai airport, Thirumavalavan criticized the media for giving Vijay extra attention due to his star status. He described this as a pre-meditated plan to build a narrative ahead of the upcoming assembly election. "But it will fall flat. He is not going to make an impact in TN politics. Our electors are politically conscious," he asserted.
Response to Congress MP's Remarks
The VCK leader brushed aside comments from Congress MP Jothimani, who suggested that TVK could secure a strong vote share and even emerge as the runner-up in several seats. Thirumavalavan labeled this as her personal opinion and stressed that predicting outcomes at this stage is meaningless. "People alone are the authority," he added, highlighting the importance of voter decision-making.
Confidence in DMK-Led Alliance
Thirumavalavan expressed strong confidence in the DMK-led alliance, stating that it remains intact and is growing from strength to strength, with more partners joining the front. He predicted a massive victory for the combine in the assembly election and claimed, "There is no other alliance that is on a par with DMK front."
On Prime Minister Modi's Visits and AIADMK-BJP Alliance
Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's frequent visits to Tamil Nadu, Thirumavalavan said there was nothing surprising about it, noting that the PM would campaign often in the state. He also pointed out that the AIADMK-BJP-led alliance has yet to begin seat-sharing talks, indicating potential challenges for the opposition.
