This amendment specifically adds 27 December 2025 as a public holiday in Uttar Pradesh. The day is celebrated as the 359th Prakash Parv of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, with gurudwaras across India being decorated for the occasion.
Connection to Veer Bal Diwas and Nationwide Observances
The holiday follows the observance of Veer Bal Diwas on December 26. This day honors the martyrdom and bravery of the young sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji. The Union Government organizes nationwide programs to educate citizens about their sacrifice.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a post on social media platform X, described Veer Bal Diwas as a "day of reverence." In Punjab, the observance is part of a three-day religious congregation. The annual 'Shaheedi Sabha' is held from 25 to 27 December in Fatehgarh Sahib district. This event commemorates the sacrifice of Guru Gobind Singh's mother, Mata Gujri Ji, and his two younger sons. The gathering aims to promote the ideals of courage, conviction, and righteousness embodied by the Sahibzades.
