Gurgaon: Two held for revolver threat after car brush

In a shocking incident of road rage that marred New Year's Eve celebrations, Gurgaon police arrested two young men for allegedly assaulting and threatening a group with a revolver. The altercation stemmed from a minor vehicle brushing incident near the popular Cyber Hub in DLF-2.

Details of the New Year's Eve Altercation

The incident occurred around midnight on December 31, spilling into the early hours of January 1, near Shankar Chowk. According to the police complaint, the victim and his friends were travelling from Delhi to Cyber Hub to ring in the New Year when another vehicle brushed against their car's side mirror. What began as a minor argument quickly escalated.

The driver of the other vehicle, identified as Sonu (21), an LLB student, and his associate, Abhishek (24), both hailing from Shamli district in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly pulled out a revolver. They threatened the group, claiming the weapon was loaded with four bullets and warning they would shoot if the argument continued.

How the Situation Was Brought Under Control

In a brave turn of events, the complainant and his friends managed to overpower the two accused and snatch the firearm from them. Subsequently, an alert was sent to the police control room about a man brandishing a firearm and threatening people near the main gate of Cyber Hub.

A police team immediately reached the spot and found the complainant and his friends there with the recovered weapon. The two accused, Sonu and Abhishek, were taken into custody late on Wednesday night. The police have registered a case and are investigating the source of the illegal firearm.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation

The swift police action prevented the volatile situation from turning more violent. This incident highlights the dangers of road rage and the alarming ease with which weapons are brandished during petty disputes. The Gurgaon police have emphasized zero tolerance for such acts of public intimidation, especially in high-footfall areas like Cyber Hub.

The case serves as a stern reminder of the legal consequences of threatening behaviour and illegal possession of arms. Investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full sequence of events and the history of the accused.
