Uttar Pradesh Government Announces Shop Allotment for Gorakhpur Traders Affected by Virasat Corridor Project

In a significant move to support urban development and trader welfare, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to allot new shops to traders impacted by the ongoing Virasat Corridor road-widening project in Gorakhpur. This decision acknowledges the cooperation of traders in the city's development process, ensuring their systematic rehabilitation while enhancing infrastructure.

Details of the Virasat Corridor Project

The Virasat Corridor project is aimed at easing traffic congestion in the busy old commercial area of Gorakhpur, stretching from Dharamshala Bazaar to Pandeyhata. As part of this road-widening initiative, several shops were partially or fully affected. Despite these challenges, traders have shown strong support for the project, facilitating smoother implementation and contributing to the city's growth.

Government's Rehabilitation Plan

Following directions from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation is actively constructing two commercial complexes for the affected shopkeepers. This plan is designed to provide organised rehabilitation, ensuring that traders can resume their businesses without disruption.

  • Second Commercial Complex: To be constructed at the Normal campus area, this facility will cater to traders impacted by the project. It will feature a total of 64 shops of varying sizes, further supporting the city's infrastructure development.
