Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Announces Major Honorarium Increase for Frontline Workers

In a significant development for thousands of frontline workers, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced a substantial increase in the honorarium for Anganwadi workers, helpers, ASHA workers, and Shiksha Mitra during his address in the legislative council on Monday.

Details of the Honorarium Enhancement

The state government is implementing this pay hike to support the crucial workforce that forms the backbone of rural and community development programs. Currently, the honorarium paid to these workers ranges between Rs 3,500 and Rs 4,000 per month, which the Chief Minister has now committed to increasing.

Uttar Pradesh has approximately 1,82,113 Anganwadi workers and over 1,28,811 helpers serving across the state. Additionally, there are around 1,68,000 ASHA workers (Accredited Social Health Activists) who play a vital role in healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

Expanding Support to Other Contractual Employees

During his speech, Chief Minister Adityanath emphasized that the government is also working to address the concerns of other contractual employees. He specifically mentioned 'anudeshak' (instructors) as another category of workers that the administration is focusing on for improved working conditions and compensation.

Women Empowerment Initiatives

The Chief Minister highlighted several initiatives undertaken by his government to boost women empowerment across Uttar Pradesh. He revealed that the state is keen to participate in the Self Help Entrepreneur Marts (SHE-Marts) program, which was announced in the Union Budget 2026-27.

These SHE-Marts are designed to promote women-led micro-level enterprises in rural India, providing platforms for women entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products. The initiative aligns with the state government's broader efforts to enhance economic opportunities for women across Uttar Pradesh.

The announcement comes as part of the government's ongoing commitment to recognizing and rewarding the contributions of frontline workers who play essential roles in education, healthcare, and community development throughout the state.
