Chennai: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday extended his wishes to the new government that is set to be formed, notably without naming the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) or its president, actor Vijay. Udhayanidhi received his certificate of victory from election officials at Queen Mary's College in Chennai.
Victory Certificate and Thanks to Constituents
Speaking to reporters after receiving the certificate, Udhayanidhi thanked the people of his constituency for their support. "We welcome the people's mandate. I thank the people of the Chepauk-Triplicane constituency for electing me for the second time. My wishes to the new government that will be formed," he said.
Future Course and Party Directions
When asked about the future course of action, Udhayanidhi stated that DMK President M K Stalin and General Secretary Duraimurugan would convene a meeting with the party's MLAs to provide them with directions. Meanwhile, Chief Minister M K Stalin visited the DMK headquarters in Chennai and held a meeting with party functionaries. Stalin, who lost in the Kolathur constituency, was visibly upset over the election results.
