Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two Engineering Students in Nalanda
In a devastating incident early Thursday morning, two engineering students lost their lives and three others sustained serious injuries when a speeding car veered out of control and plunged into a deep ditch. The accident occurred near Salehpur Mor and Gaudapar in the Chandi police station area of Nalanda district, sending shockwaves through the local community and the college campus.
High-Speed Crash Leads to Fatal Consequences
According to police reports and eyewitness accounts, the car was traveling at an extremely high speed, estimated to be around 100 kilometers per hour. The driver lost control of the vehicle near Gaudapar, causing it to veer off the road and flip directly into a ditch. The impact of the crash was so severe that the car sustained extensive damage, trapping all five occupants inside.
Chandi Station House Officer Suman Kumar stated, "The car's speed was very high, due to which the vehicle went out of control between Salehpur and Gaudhapar and fell into a ditch. We are thoroughly investigating the matter to determine the exact circumstances."
Victims Identified as Nalanda Engineering College Students
The deceased students have been identified as Ashish Kumar, a resident of Jamui, and Rahul Ranjan, who hailed from Katihar. The three critically injured students—Dheeraj Kashyap from Gaya, Utsav Singh from Samastipur, and Shashikant from Rohtas—received primary treatment at the scene before being referred to private hospitals for advanced medical care.
All five young men were students at Nalanda Engineering College and were traveling together in the car coming from the Chandi side when the tragic accident occurred.
Rescue Efforts and Community Response
Upon hearing the screams and commotion, local residents and passersby immediately rushed to the accident site to assist. Chandi police also arrived promptly after receiving information about the incident. Through coordinated efforts between police personnel and local volunteers, the trapped students were carefully extracted from the wrecked vehicle after considerable effort.
The injured students were immediately transported by ambulance to a referral hospital, where medical professionals declared two of them deceased upon arrival. The bodies of the deceased students were subsequently sent to Biharsharif Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination as part of the official investigation process.
