Thiruvananthapuram District Secures Double Honors in Kerala State Revenue Awards

The district of Thiruvananthapuram has achieved remarkable recognition in this year's state revenue awards, securing dual distinctions that highlight its administrative excellence. Not only was the district named the best collectorate in Kerala, but its sub-collector, Alfred O V, was also selected as the best sub-collector across the state.

Awards Ceremony and Official Recognition

Speaker A N Shamseer presented these prestigious awards during a formal ceremony held at the Co-Bank auditorium in PMG on Tuesday. The event celebrated the outstanding achievements of the district administration, particularly noting its effective interventions and dedicated public service.

District Collector Anu Kumari expressed that the award is a tribute to all employees of the collectorate. She emphasized that despite the heavy workload inherent to being the capital district, the timely implementation of projects ensuring socio-economic security for residents has been made possible through the unwavering support of a committed staff working beyond regular hours.

Innovative Projects Driving Social Upliftment

The district administration has implemented approximately 15 innovative projects aimed at the social, cultural, and economic upliftment of various population segments. These initiatives demonstrate a comprehensive approach to community development:

  • Jeevandaan Organ Donation Project: Achieved 90% employee participation, making it a particularly significant campaign.
  • Jalasree Groundwater Recharge Project: Completed recharging at 112 locations across six blocks in the district.
  • Project Arise - Super 100: Empowers students from socially and economically backward backgrounds.
  • Project X: Ensures sexual education to foster a positive mindset among teenagers.
  • Unfiltered: Addresses issues related to stress, anxiety, academic pressure, social media influence, and emotional isolation among youth.
  • Happy Trivandrum: Promotes joyful urban life through community gatherings that encourage disconnection from digital addiction.
  • Project Smile: Provides gifts to children in child protection institutions during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
  • Collector's Campus Connect: Links students directly with the district administration for better engagement.
  • Oxygen Parks: Initiatives focused on environmental sustainability and public health.

Excellence in Land Administration and Case Resolution

Beyond social projects, the district demonstrated exceptional performance in administrative functions, particularly in land-related matters:

  • Resolved 90.5% of title deed applications and achieved 100% resolution of forest rights document applications.
  • Processed a total of 81,470 applications related to land acquisition.
  • Organized taluk-level adalats that addressed 6,066 complaints efficiently.

This comprehensive performance across both innovative social initiatives and core administrative duties underscores why Thiruvananthapuram district was deemed worthy of these top state honors, setting a benchmark for excellence in public administration throughout Kerala.
